Introduction: Make a Cloud Control Pet Feeder
I have a lovely dog named Lele, it means happy in Chinese. After I go to work every day, I always worry about whether he is hungry. So I made this device to help to feed Lele when I am outside.
I use the Grove Servo to open and close the dog food container door. And the most important is, you don't have to do any programming, you just need the hardware, and do some setting at your smart phone.
Step 1: The Video
We made a Video about this pet feeder.
You can get more information about how does it work.
Step 2: What Do We Need
There's something need to be prepared first.
- Wio Link APP
- DoButton APP
- PWio Link
- Grove Servo
- Dog food containerBattery
- A smart phone
Wio Link is a Wi-Fi development board to build connected IoT projects with Grove modules. Simplify your development of IoT devices without requirements of hardware programming or soldering.
Put hand on here to get more information about Wio Link.
Step 3: Do Some Construction Work
First, I made a dog food container bracket with acrylic sheets, I guess you don't have a laser cutting at home, you can find some in the hacker space near from you easily. If there's no hacker space nearby.
Second, make the Grove Servo fixed on the acrylic sheet. As shown in the about image.
Step 4: Configure Your Wio Link
Before you configure the Wio Link, make sure the WiFi around you works well. If this is your first time to use Wio Link, please follow this link to get more details
Then configure your Wio Link as the picture below shows. And click “ UPDATE FIRMWARE ” on the upper right corner.
After updating the firmware, you can see the API of your WIO Link, Have a try and let your servo move.
Step 5: Configure Your DOButton App
Download the Do Button APP from the APP store.
The Do Button account and IFTTT account are the same. Configure your Do Button APP as the video shows.
Step 6: Test the Device
After the above easy steps, you had made a cloud control pet feeder for your pet.
If you want to feed your pet when there's nobody at home, why not make one your self.
Cheers.
