Intro: Making a Survival Knife

Hi guys,

I was asked if i wanted to post on Instructables and I'm really starting to like this community. I will be posting more projects soon. For now I wanted to share this project:

The knife is made out of O1 steel. I buy this in Europe at https://shop.premium-steel.eu/en_eu/ and they rock! Cheap, a lot of different sizes and quick delivery. Their http://www.premium-steel.co.uk/steel-guide steel guide is also a very nice tool for finding a proper steel for your needs.

If you have any questions, please ask. I will try to answer them Asap.

Kind regards

Alexander

Hi JC,

I'm afraid not as for they are my intellectual property. I want to protect it and therefore would like to support you into making your own unique design ;)

What's the handle made of?

G10 glassfiber laminate

Very nice work Alex!

beautiful finish on the final product!

cheers

Nice, I am going to try this myself. I already owe multiple survival knives (mostly bought following the criteria laid down on this site http://survivalseverything.com/index.php/2015/09/1... but I have always wanted to have my own homemade one too.

Thanks for this instructional!

Fantastic work ! Nice piece ! I m wondering how do you blackend the blade
i used ballistol gun blue. quite easy, it is important to clean the blade well! and make sure that the blade is warm like 60c.

Good Morning! I was just wanting to comment on how nice you are to the people who are interested in your gift. I am not trying to be facetious! I am serious about being nice and about having a gift for being a craftsman.

Oh yeah, and you are Great at Making Things! David

The sheath looks interesting as well, could you post some details of it as well?

Wow that is amazing do you sell these because I don't have the money to make one myself.

thank you for your reaction Zarion. I sell knives in order to earn back my tools. Email me at info@emergo-designs.nl or visit my Facebook: www.Facebook.com/ emergodesigns.
You sir have a dream shop and know exactly what to do with it
The building is an old oyster growing and packing facility from 1878. Still in the family and I enjoy every moment in it! the water is literally 6 meters from my work bench :) Thanks for watching and for your kind comment
Your shop space looks amazing! Great job on the knife. How long did it take to make?

Have a great day! :-)
Thank you! This knife took me around 13 hours to make. Heat treatment was done in a batch to reduce time. Have a nice day yourself!

Beautiful work ! I really like your homemade jig for sharpening. However I am afraid you have way to many toys in your shop, not really I am just really jealous. Again, great job, keep them coming.
