Introduction: Master the Wonders of Samuel B.F. Morse! (My First Instructable)

Hey guys,

Today I will show you how to make a simple telegraph for under $10. This is a simple concept for a single person telegraph button and clicker. The Idea is to use a clothespin to make the button and a battery pack with the help of a buzzer to make the noise.

Step 1: Step One: Materials

You will need:

1 Foot of Copper Wire,
1 Spring-Type Clothespin,
Scotch Brand Tape,
Aluminum Tape,
A Small Wooden Block,
Electrical Tape,
A 3-12 volt buzzer from RadioShack,
A 2 AA Battery pack from Radioshack (Open or Enclosed),
A Good Quality Staple Gun,
Needle-Nose and Wire-Cutter and Wire-Stripper Pliers,
Screwdriver (If Needed),
2 AA Batteries,
Alligator Clips

Step 2: Step 1: Assembly

First take apart the clothespin. Take the part with the spring and staple it to the block of wood. Put the clothespin back together.Place aluminum tape on both ends of the the stapled part of the clothes pin. On the side you will squeeze to open the clothespin, put more tape on so that it will be thicker. Then on the other part you will put 14 winds of tape on the same side used to squeeze open the clothespin. While wind you will place one wire from the buzzer on the tape and wind the wire inside the tape. Make sure to use the same color wire from both the buzzer and battery pack on the clothespin. Connect the two remaining wires and fix them together with electrical tape. You can use alligator clips if you need to, I ended up not using them.

Step 3: Finished!

Pop in a couple AA batteries to the battery pack and your finished!
