Introduction: Masters Golf Tournament Themed Party

About: I am a former community manager here at Instructables. I'm interested in baking, crafty things, and learning new ways of making!

Golf is boring, but your Masters themed Party doesn't have to be! Here are some easy crafting ideas to turn plain old cakes, party hats, and balloons into awesome, themed party items!

Step 1: Make Your Stencils

Supplies Needed:

  • Printed out logo
  • Scissors
  • Scotch Tape

Cover your entire logo in scotch tape. If you have a laminating machine or laminating sheets you could also just quickly laminate your logo too. The scotch tape achieves the same effect. Carefully cut out your logo into its different layers. If it's a simple logo, you may need only one stencil. The Masters logo has a few different layers and colors, so I did 3 stencils and then used them differently for my different crafts. For the fancy writing, don't try and cut out the letters into solid pieces, just cut them out in bits and pieces and use the remaining page with the letters cut out as your stencil. If you mess up and cut something out that you didn't mean to. You can just tape it back in. The stencil doesn't have to look great, we're just going to use it to make the rest of our party items look great!

Step 2: Stenciled Balloons

Supplies needed:

  • Balloons
  • Cut out stencils
  • Scotch tape
  • Sharpies

Cover the back of your chosen stencil with rolls of scotch tape and then press it to your blown up balloon. It's not going to lay completely flat because the baloon is curved, but just try and get the stencil pretty much where you want it. Trace the stencil with your sharpie, using your fingers to hold down the raised edges as you go around and trace. To get all of the different layers of the Masters logo I used two of my stencils and did a little free hand clean up. Be careful not to smear the ink with your hand as you draw. Let the Sharpie dry for a few minutes before you touch the balloons.

Step 3: Stenciled Party Hats

Supplies Needed:

  • Green party hats
  • Stencil
  • Scotch Tape
  • Glitter glue thingies
  • Sharpies

Tape the stencil onto your hat the same way you did with the balloons, using rolled up bits of scotch tape on the back. Fill in the stencil with glitter glue where you would like it to be glittery. Pull off the stencil. We also made some of these where we just traced the stencil with red sharpie.

Step 4: Make a Golf Bingo Game

Do anything you can to make the game more interesting.

You can use this website to make your own bingo cards Or use the ones that we made. You could have prizes for the winners or just play to win!

Step 5: Bean Dip

Make a bean dip. Don't go crazy with refreshments. You'll be so bored watching golf that there will be plenty of time to go into the kitchen and make other snacks. Make sure you have some drinks on hand. Anything will do. Don't make mint juleps, because they're gross (or is that the Kentucky Derby?) Mojitos would be awesome, but I can only do so much, ok! Get a friend to bring Mojitos.

7 Layer Bean Dip

Layer 1: 1 can re-fried beans

Layer 2: 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/3 cup mayonnaise, 1/8 cup taco seasoning (1/2 pkg) all mixed together

Layer 3: Guacamole (I use this recipe: 2 avocados, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 2 Tbsp lime juice, salt to taste)

Layer 4: 4-8 ounces shredded cheese

Layer 5: 1 can olives, sliced

Layer 6: 1 cup tomatoes, diced

Layer 7: 1/2 bunch onions (use white and green part of onion), chopped

Step 6: Make a Masters Cake

Don't go crazy now, just use a boxed cake mix. Make your own frosting though, it's easy and way better than the store-bought ones. I'd give you a recipe for the frosting, but mine turned out just okay. We made vanilla buttercream icing and then laid down different stencils and poured on different colors of sprinkles to make the logo. Have fun! Do this during the golf so you don't have to watch :)

Step 7: Party Time!

The golf actually wasn't that bad. It was a pretty exciting game (bingo helped).

Great job Phil, Justin and congratulations Jordan on tying the record for best Masters score ever!
