Introduction: Measuring Tape Bracelet

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

Have an extra measuring tape handy? Why not make it into a bracelet with these simple steps! This craft was inspired by Mark Montano from The Big Ass Book of Crafts 2 under the chapter "Wristful Thinking".

Step 1: Materials

To make this bracelet, you will need:

  • measuring tape
  • scissors
  • Velcro sticky dots
  • sewing machine with zigzag stitch
  • matching thread

Step 2: Measuring and Cutting

First, use the measuring tape to measure around your wrist, then cut off at least 1" extra.

Step 3: Sew Bracelet

From there, with your sewing machine set on the zigzag stitch, sew together the pieces, long end to long end, side by side. Then, fold the ends 1/2" in and straight stitch across to seal.

Step 4: Finish Off

Finally, use Velcro sticky dots to attach to both ends of the bracelet for the closure.

Step 5: Ready to Wear

This is the perfect accessory for someone who really is into sewing, like myself (I mean, I am just starting off, but, anyway...) or to compliment any type of outfit! I say wear it for both reasons, because you can get the most out of everything accomplishment!
