Introduction: Microbit Operation Game

Are you looking for a fun project to do? Or to recreate one of your favorite classic games? Well then I have the project for you! The microbit operation Game!

Supplies

The supplies you will need:

  • 4 Alligator clips
  • Coper tape
  • Microbit (I'm using the BBC Microbit which has a built in speaker but other Microbits may need a speaker)
  • Large piece of cardstock
  • Tweezers
  • Pencil crayons
  • Prestation board or card board

Step 1: Coding

  1. Go to https://makecode.microbit.org/#
  2. Then once your on the website place the on start block.
  3. Next you add the show number 3 blockand add the pause block to 100 ms under the onstart block.
  4. Repeat with 2 and 1.
  5. Next add the forever block as a separate block
  6. Next add the show icon block and pick the smile icon
  7. Next add the if (Blank) then block
  8. Next add pin P1 is pressed block to if (Blank) then block
  9. Next add another Show icon block but instead of the smile icon use the frown icon
  10. Next add play tone high B for 4 beats block.
  11. Next add start melody funeral repeating once in background block.
  12. Next upload to microbit


Step 2: Attaching the Alligator Clips

Attach three alligator clip to to pin 1 and one to pin GND

Step 3: Preparing the Board

  1. Trace or draw what you want to be on your game board on card stock. (If you are using black card stock use a light color to draw or trace)
  2. Chose where you want to put the holes using stick notes or something you can use to move mark where you want to put it
  3. Sketch where the holes in your board should be. (I would recommend tracing around the token)
  4. Cut where you traced (Children should have adult supervision from this step)

Step 4: Tokens

  1. Start by sketching the tokens on cardboard.
  2. Then color them.
  3. After you finished that then cut them out.

Step 5: Adding Pockets to the Board

  1. Line what your using as pockets with copper tape
  2. Glue each of the pockets to the back of the holes

Step 6: Putting It All Together

  1. Attach the wires on pin 1 to the copper tape
  2. Attach the wire attached to GND to the pair of tweezers

Step 7: Enjoy Your Game

Now enjoy your game
