Hello everyone!! My name is Matthew White and throughout this instructable, I will be showing you a step-by-step process on how to make a wooden pickaxe in Minecraft Java Edition.

Supplies

The supplies that will be needed throughout this instructable will be:

Minecraft Java Edition
Any tree
At least 3 wood logs
A crafting table
2 sticks
3 wooden planks

Step 1: Open Minecraft

When Minecraft is first opened it will spawn you in either your last known location or if you are starting a new world you will spawn at your world's spawn point.

Step 2: Find a Tree

Now that you have spawned in you need to find a tree. In Minecraft tree's come in many different shapes and sizes and can easily be found by going on a quick adventure into the forest, jungle, woods, etc.

Step 3: Harvest All the Wood Logs From the Tree

Now we are going to harvest the wood logs from the tree. In order to harvest wood logs simply go up to the tree's trunk and hold the left side of the mouse until the block breaks. Repeat this process on each block of the tree's trunk until you have harvested all of its wood logs. For this project, you are going to need a minimum of 3.

Step 4: Turn the Wooden Logs Into Wood Planks

Next, we are going to turn the wood logs we just harvested into wood planks. This step can easily be done by opening your inventory in Minecraft by pressing "E". From here place the wood logs into any block on the 2 x 2 grid in the top right corner. From here you left click on the box following the arrow in order to turn your wood logs into wood planks. (Each log creates four planks).

Step 5: Make a Crafting Table

Similarly to the last step we are going to use the wood planks we have just crafted to make a crafting table. To do this once again open your inventory by pressing "E". From here, place one wood plank in each box of the 2 x 2 grid on the top right. You can then left-click on the box after the arrow to make your crafting table.

Step 6: Place the Crafting Table

Now we are going to place the crafting table by selecting it from our tools bar and placing it on the ground by hovering over a block and right-clicking.

Step 7: Crafting Sticks

Now we are going to use our crafting table in order to craft sticks. To do this place any two wood planks next to each other vertically anywhere on the 3 x 3 grid. From here you will have the option to craft sticks by left-clicking them from the box after the arrow to put them in your inventory. (This process will give you two sticks)

Step 8: Crafting the Wooden Pickaxe

For our final step, we are going to craft the pickaxe by opening the crafting table. The first step to crafting a pickaxe is to place the wooden planks all along the first row of the 3 x 3 grid. Next, we place a stick in the middle column on both the 2nd and 3rd rows of the 3 x 3 grid. From here you can simply left-click on the box after the arrow displaying the pickaxe. And just like that, you are one step closer to becoming a Minecraft pro now that you have your very own wooden pickaxe.
