Introduction: Mint Chip Iced Tea
This refreshing treat is inspired by a drink I had on Cape Cod. Throughout the spring, I had been craving mint chip ice cream and was so excited when I found a drink that replicated the taste. I developed my own recipe and have been drinking it all summer. Enjoy on a hot afternoon after a walk or just lounging outside!
Step 1: Preparation
For this tea you will need:
- Kettle
- Teapot
- Saucepan
- Heat tolerant pitcher or storage container
- Whisk
- Tea strainer
- 2 tbsp green tea
- 10 fresh mint leaves*
- 3 cups milk
- Hot cocoa mix for 3 cups of hot cocoa**
- 2 tbsp agave nectar***
- Ice
*I like to use fresh mint, but regular peppermint tea or other mint teas would be fine!
**I use Dagoba hot chocolate mix
***Sugar is an easy substitute
Step 2: Making the Green Tea
Boil 3 cups of water in the kettle. While it is cooking, place the green tea and mint leaves inside teapot. Add hot water and steep for 4 minutes (be careful not to steep too long as green tea gets bitter if over extracted). Strain by pouring into your pitcher or storage container and place in the fridge.
Step 3: Making the "chip" Flavor
Heat the milk at medium high heat in the sauce pan and add hot chocolate mix. Whisk as the milk heats to make sure the chocolate is evenly mixed. Do not allow the milk to bubble.
Step 4: Cooling and Serving
Add the "chip" mix and agave nectar to the pitcher in the fridge and stir thoroughly. Place back in the fridge. After it is cooled for a little, add a sprig of fresh mint.
Serve over ice!

Hey Bluejay! I usually make it once a week and enjoy it slowly. I would say it is at least 6 servings depending on how much ice you like to have it over! Thanks for your interest!
