Introduction: My Apple Pie Recipe

Home made apple pie! It takes about and hour and a half to prepare and bake.

Crust: 2 cups all purpose flour, 2/3 cups shortening, pinch of salt, 1 egg, 1/4 cup cold water.

Pie:

1/2 cup unsalted butter

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1/4 cup water

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

8 Granny Smith apples cored and sliced

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.

Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.

Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven.

Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.

Step 1: Making the Crust!

Combine 2 cups flour and 2/3 cups shortening with fork or a handheld pasty mixer.

Add an egg, a pinch of salt, and 1/4 cups cold water. Mix together with a fork.

Refrigerate pie crust for a about 30 minutes.

Step 2: Cut Apples and Roll Out Pie Crust

Cut up apples! Pretty simple!

Roll out pie crust on floured counter top, I like to use a glass jar instead of a rolling pin!

Place cut up apples in pie crust.

Add lattice on top of apples! Sometimes I do lattice and sometimes I do designs!

Step 3: Make Filling

In a sauce pan or pot, I used a pot.

Melt 1/2 cup unsalted butter, stir in 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour to form a paste. Add 1/4 cup water, 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup packed brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.

Pour filling over the unbaked pie! Careful this might be messy.

Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.
