Introduction: Mystery Creations With Deep Dream Generator
Deep Dream Generator: "Is a set of tools which make it possible to explore different AI algorithms." Deep Dream Generator merges selected images or styles to create one unique design.
In this activity students will create two different artworks that will be merged into one new image. Ideally, students will have at least thirty minutes to create, upload artwork images, and generate a new image through Deep Dream. This activity is meant to be a fun exercise and an introduction to the program. Theme options: Nature, anime, characters, self-portrait, abstract and/or geometric.
Warm up Activity: Students will brainstorm and sketch artwork ideas.

Goals:

Requirements:
Students must create at least two different artworks. When the thirty minutes are up, all artworks must be uploaded to Deep Dream. Students should generate at least two different merged images from Deep Dream Generator.
Assessment:
Students will be assessed on their ability to create, document and upload artworks to the program. They will also be assessed on their ability to follow and complete each step.
Supplies
9"x 12" Drawing paper, colored pencils, markers or their choice of medium. Access to internet, computer, camera and a USB cord to connect the camera or phone to the computer.
Step 1: Create Two Different Artworks.
- Gather supplies.
- Create artwork designs.
- When you're done find a location in your home or school that has good lighting and take a few pictures of your artworks.
- Make sure the pictures are clear and not fuzzy looking.
- Save images to the desktop or create a file for artwork images.
- Save each image with your first name and a number. (Example: Dan 1 and Dan 2)
Step 2: Go to Deep Dream Generator Website
- Click on the link below or type in "Deep Dream Generator" into Google search bar.https://deepdreamgenerator.com/
- Sign in or make an account (Log in).
Step 3: Upload and Create
- Once you have signed into Deep Dream find the orange button that says Generate.
- Look at the top center of the page and click "choose file" to upload your first image of your artwork.
- Next, look towards the bottom of the page and click "Upload Your Own" for your second image.
- When you click on "choose file" or "upload your own" your computer folder will pop up. Search that folder for your file or click on the desktop icon on the left of your computer file.
- After selecting and uploading both images go to the bottom of the page and click the "Generate" button again. The page will change and you will see its loading process strip. It should only take a minute or two to load and a new merged image should appear.
- To log out click your name icon that is at the top of the page and to the right of the generate button. That will also show you where your new images are stored. Look for the button on that page that says: "Logout.
