Nano Survival Kit in Business Card Case

For a survival kit to be of help, you need to have it with you, so it should be small and light to be comfortable to carry. And a business card case takes very little space and is light. I had read a few instructables on survival kits when i found a few items in the shape of credit cards. I found an old case for business cards and thought this would make a nice survival kit.

Please note that this is a very basic list oft items that could come handy. It will not save you in a real emergency but it can be of help. So the author is not liable. Always prepare according to the situation you might face.

Step 1: Contain / Signal

The case. would be ideal if its made of polished or chromed metal so it could double as a signalling mirror for emergency situations.

Step 2: Cut

This covers basic cutting tasks.

Step 3: Screw / Saw / Open

There is a number of credit card sized tools available on the web.

Step 4: Heal

plasters for small injuries.

Step 5: Pay

Money comes in handy in any situation, so fold a few bills into the case.

Step 6: Ignite

Get a few outdoor matches that can be lit on any rough surface. You never know when you need to ... come on baby light my fire.

Step 7: Sew

A big sewing needle might be handy if you need to repair clothes or sew a wound.

Step 8: Hold Together

A few safety Pins can hold things together when everything is coming apart.

Step 9: Disinfect

Alcoholic swipes are useful if you want to sanitize either your hands or maybe a toilet seat.

A very good start. A few pieces of tape. A large sewing needle. A few safety pins. Some money. All would also fit, and improve your great idea.

I keep a small fresnel lense in my wallet. it's great as a potential fire starter, and sometimes it's handy to be able to get a closer look at something.

I really want to get one of those credit card knives. I used to have a swiss card, but it eventually broke.

Adding the lens is a good idea thanks. I had thought about adding matches that can be lit in any rough surface.

The blade of the collapsable knife is surprisingly sharp, but the knife is not very stable as the shaft is plastic. But it will do it's job if it does'nt need to be very robust.
