Introduction: Ne555 Breathing Effect

About: Electronics Enthusiast , Computer Engineering Student who like to thinker on electronics and embedded systems and IoT.

This is a simple ne555 timer IC based multi vibrator breathing effect . The LED blinks like we breathe we can control the breathing time using potentiometer on board. It works on 5 volts DC to 9 volts DC.

The working of this is simple that the n e 555 produces a frequency or a signal which then activate a general purpose NPN transistor which bank switches on and of the LED . The breathing effect is produced due to the charging of a capacitor which turns on the emither collector path for a short amount of time until the capacitor gets drained

Supplies

  1. Ne 555 timer IC
  2. General purpose NPN transistor
  3. 10 kilo ohms variable resistor
  4. 10 kilo ohm resistor
  5. 100 UF capacitor
  6. 470 UF capacitor
  7. 3 volt LED lights
  8. Solid copper wire
  9. Wooden base

Step 1: Make the Wodden Base

Make a simple wooden base for soldering all these electronic components together so that we could produce a nice looking craft

Step 2: Connecting NE-555 Ic

NE 555 timer IC pinout is given above

  1. connect pin1 of ne 555 to negative terminal
  2. Connect pin8 of ne555 to positive terminal
  3. connect pin2 to pin6 of the ne555

Step 3: Connecting Transistor

  • connect transistor emittor pin to ground
  • Connect transistor base pin to pin3 of ic through a 10k ohms resistor
  • Connect transistor collector pin to led negative

Step 4: Connecting Resistor

  • Connect 10 kilo ohms resistor from pin1 of ic to base of transistor
  • Connect 10 kilo ohms resistor from pin7 of ic to positive terminal
  • Connect 10 kilo ohms variable resistor from pin6 of ic to pin7 of ic

Step 5: Connecting Capacitor

  • Connect 100uf capacitor positive pin to ic pin2
  • Connect 100uf capacitor negative pin to ground

  • Connect 470uf capacitor positive pin to base of transistor
  • Connect 470uf capacitor negative pin to ground

Step 6: Make Led Bar

All led positive and negative terminal is connected parallel

  • Connect led positive to positive terminal
  • Connect led ground to collector of transistor

Step 7: Complete

Connect this to 5 volt dc and you can adjust the frequency using the 10 kilo ohms variable resistor on board
