I built this project for friends who organizes parties called Electro Beast.

We built the logo with LED neon flex stripes. For control we use a simple DMX LED controller. So every light DJ can control the device. The neon LED strips can be bent very well, because they are only 8mm wide. We had a metal frame lasered, on which we mounted the LED silicone strips. For small objects you can also use acrylic.


Hardware Parts

  • Super Glue „Cyanoacrylate“ e.g. Loctite 435
  • Cable Ties
  • Rack on which the LEDs are mounted. Acrylic or as in this example metal what was lasered

Electronic Parts

Step 1: Logo and Frame Preparation

The LED strips can be cut every 4,2cm. Therefore you should adapt your logos to these path lengths.

We had a metal frame lasered, on which we mounted the LED silicone strips. For small objects you can also use acrylic.

We painted the metal frame after laser treatment. The areas where the strip is glued have been specially taped so that no varnish can get there. The LED strips stick better directly on Metall.

Step 2: Cutting and Mounting the LED Strips

I glued the LED strips with super glue on the metal, so that we could also create very filigree bends/curves and you don't see any fixing clips. The glue needs some time to harden completely. For this time I fixed the LED strip with cable ties. You can remove it later.

Step 3: Powering the LEDs

There are four cables strands in the tube that power the LED strips and are cast in parallel to the strip. The cast LED strips are not soldered under each other. I didn't use these 4 strands because I wanted to solder directly to the LED strips and didn't want to use the thick original plugs. If you want to do the same, you have to make sure that your LED strip is completely powered. Check it after shortening. If it doesn't light up completely, you can solder on the end what doesn't light up your connection cable or solder the LED strip to the 4 cable strands in the tube.

The LED strips can be cut every 4,2cm. I used a DMX LED controller. You can also use other LED controllers or connect them in one color directly to the power supply (12V). The LED strips have a common 12V+ contact (anode) and one minus contact (cathode) per color.
