Nerf Crossbow

        In this Instructable I will show you how to modify a toy crossbow into a powerful Nerf shooting weapon. It is low cost but very effective in the midst of a Nerf battle. Its single shot action and reload time are the only cons, but it makes up for it with its accuracy, power, distance, and mobility. It is a great overall gun, effective at both short and long range.

Step 1: Materials Needed

Here is what you need. If you have Nerf guns you will have most of the supplies.

-Crosman Bristol Jr. Toy Crossbow (around $15)
-Nerf Magstrike AS-10 clip
-Packing Tape
-Two rubber bands
-Nerf darts (whistle tip or suction cup)
-Nerf Recon CS-6 sight (optional)

Step 2: Taping the Crossbow

        In the middle of the gun at the back of the shooting chamber there will be a black plastic piece. Right below that is a latch to "catch" the string so it doesn't shoot off. You want to tape right before the latch. This will hold the dart in place snugly. Do not make the tape tight. Make it loose so the dart fits snug betwen the tape and black plastic piece.

Step 3: More Taping

This time you want to tape the piece of string in the chamber. This is so it can shoot the dart more effectively.

Step 4: Attaching the Ammo Holder

We took the clip from our broken Magstrike and used it as an ammo holder. First fill the clip with darts. Next, take the two rubber bands and double loop them so they are tighter. Attach the clip to the butt of the gun. If your trigger finger is your right hand, you should place the clip on the left side so it doesn't get in the way of your hand. For lefties, vice versa.

Step 5: Shoot Away

Have fun with this gun. It is easy to make and a very good gun, plus it is unique. I did some tests and it ranges up to an approximate average of 60 feet. You could probably spray paint it if yellow isn't your color. Watch the video below (The bullets are hard to see but they all hit the roof of the garage and rolled down). Something cool you could do is shoot a "Nerf Grenade", an Instructable made by Airsoft 007 Sniper . When shot, it is a bigger bullet, and sometimes, if you make it right, it will spray the bullets like a shotgun.
