Introduction: Nested Pots Using Rhino and Grasshopper
We had to design and print nested objects using Rhino, grasshopper, Ultimaker Cura, and the Ender 3 3D printer. I design small pots for succulents with a specific space to add handcrafted details to them.
Supplies
- Rhino 6
- grasshopper
- Ultimaker Cura slicer
- PLA 3D printing filament
- Ender 3
- mini pliers
Step 1: Rhino
This design was archived by following the instructions provided and with the help of Ana Cardenas. (thank you).
Step 2: Ultimaker Cura
I designed three small pots for my succulents plants. They have an indentation made with the idea of gluing a braid made of yarn or macrame as a handcrafter detail.

Step 3: Challenged With the 3D Printer
The first printing efforts were made using a white filament. There is a possibility the filament absorbed water and became humid. This was causing the filament to constantly break when loading.
Step 4: Final Pieces
After changing the filament, the pots were able to print successfully. However. they were not stackable as expected.
