Introduction: On a Budget - Refurbish Wall Tiles
I recently had to rent a "new" flat. The kitchens' wall tiles were somehow too awesome for me. As I had limited budget to renovate the entire hut, my choice came to... tadaaa: gaffer tape.
All you need is 10 meters of tape per square meter of wall to decorate. I needed slightly more than 2 roles à 50 meters. But I must mention that I had some meters to test.
Step 1: The Blank Wall
I decided to make some effort, so I removed the power outlet enclosures.
I really don't like the color of the tiles...
Step 2: What You Need:
Gaffer tape in the colors of your choice (and availability). I had black and silver.
Calculate your need - remember that you need 10 m per sq.m wall (assuming that the tape is 5 cm wide).
As mentioned I used 2 roles à 50 m. Look out and you will get it for 10€ per role.
A cutter knife might be helpful.
At certain points a plastic (!) spatula helps.
Step 3: Stick the Tape
Step 4: ...and Let It Slightly Overlap.
Step 5: Give a Frame to the Power Plugs
Step 6: Use the Spatula...
Step 7: ...in the Wall Corner
Step 8: The First Wall Is Ready...
Approx. 1 or 1,5 hours of work
Step 9: Mission Accomplished!
Go slow but straight and finish the thing. It took me about 3 or 4 hours of work distributed over two weekends :-P
Step 10: Furniture Completes the Room!
Thank you and good-bye!
