Introduction: Origami Star Box
This is a simple box that looks like a star.
Remember to take your time and make every fold cleanly. A pen or fingernail can help press the folds down.
Supplies
- Origami paper (or any square paper)
- A flat surface to fold on
- Pen or other object you can use to smoothen out the folds (fingernails also work)
Step 1: Place Paper on the Table
The side facing up will be the inside of the box.
Step 2: Fold the Paper in Half From Top to Bottom
Step 3: Unfold and Flip Over
Note that the pointy part of the crease is facing up.
Step 4: Repeat Steps 2-3 in a Direction Perpendicular to the Original Fold
You should have 2 mountains running perpendicular to each other forming a plus sign like in the picture.
Step 5: Flip the Paper Over
Step 6: Fold the Paper Diagonally
Step 7: Repeat Step 6 But Perpendicular to Step 6
Step 8: Press in the Center Lightly and Bring the Corners In
The corners should pop up a bit. Bring the corners together and fold flat
Step 9: Flip It Over So the Opening Faces Up
Step 10: Fold Down the Top Layer to the Center Crease. Repeat for the Left Side
Only fold the top layer.
Step 11: Flip the Paper Over and Repeat Step 10 for the Other Side
Step 12: Fold the Bottom Triangle Up.
Also flip it over and do the fold in the other direction. This makes a crease which will help later.
Step 13: Open the Fold and Flatten
Make sure that the crease on the bottom orange triangle lines up with the white one.
Step 14: Repeat Step 13 on the Right Side
Step 15: Flip Over and Repeat Steps 13-14 on the Other Side
Step 16: Fold One Layer Over to the Right and Fold a Triangle Into the Center. Do This for Both Sides.
Step 17: Fold Over 2 Layers to Find the Odd Side Out and Repeat Step 16
Step 18: Fold Down the Upper Triangle. Flip Over and Repeat for the Other Sides
Step 19: Open Up the Box a Bit...
Step 20: Open the Box Fully
The bottom edges of the box will be well defined if you did step 12
