Introduction: PCR Kayak Cart

This project is about building a cart that is able to transport a Kayak from your car to the river and back. Additionally, it is easy to disassemble to be able to fit into anyone's car/truck. This one is specifically designed for a 10ft long Kayak and 30in. width but can also reasonably fit a kayak with similar measurements.

Step 1: Getting Materials

3 PVC Pipe (2 10ftx1in pipes, 1 34inx1in pipe)

2 Bike tires (26in tires)

Metal Axis(36in in length)

15 T PVC Connectors ( 1in diameter)

2 L PVC Connectors (1in diameter)

1 + PVC Connector (1in diameter)

1 Straight PVC Connector (1in diameter)

2 1/2in Axle Nut

Blue PVC cement

Spray Paint (Can be any color you choose)

Kayak Measurements: 30in in width,10ft in Length

Step 2: Cutting the Pieces of PVC Pipe

Step 1: Cut PVC into 4, 10in pieces.

Step 2: Cut PVC into 8, 7in pieces out of the same 10 ft PVC Pipe.

Step 3: Cut PVC into 4, 4 1/6in pieces

Step 4: Cut PVC into 4, 6 in pieces

Step 5: Cut PVC into 8, 7 1/4in pieces

Step 6: Cut PVC into 2, 4 5/8in pieces

Step 7: Cut PVC into 2, 24in pieces

Step 8: Cut PVC into 1, 12in piece

Step 3: Adding Rope Holes

Step 1: Take all of the 10 in PVC cuts and drill a 3/8 hole 2in from the top

(this is to allow a rope to wrap around the kayak to keep it firmly in place)

Step 4: Connecting the PVC Pipes Part 1

Step 1: Take two of the 10in pieces and put a T PVC connector on each end.

Step 2: Connect in a rectangular shape with 4 of the 7in pieces.

Step 3: The middle will be connected with two 4 1/6in pieces with a T PVC connector connecting those in the middle.

Step 4: connect two 6in pieces to the bottom T PVC connector, then attach a T PVC connector to the end of those.

Step 5: Attach four of the 7 1/4in pieces to each end of the T PVC Connector.

Step 6: Attach the two 4 5/8in pieces to each end of the T PVC connector on the top.

(Look at the picture to better understand the direction of all the pieces)
[MAKE SURE TO GLUE ALL PIECES TOGETHER AND HAVE THEM TIGHT TOGETHER]

Step 5: Connecting the Pieces Part 2

Step 1: Take two 10in cuts and put on L connector on top of each, then on the other end and a T connector on each.

Step 2: Take 4 7in pieces connect them in a rectangular shape.(Use the + PVC connector on the top middle and a T connector on the bottom middle)

Step 3: Connect the middle with 2 of the 4 1/6in pieces and a T PVC Connector

Step 4: Take 2 of the 6in pieces and attach them to the bottom of the two T PVC connectors, then put a T piece on the end of each.

Step 5: Attach 4 of the 7 1/4in pieces to each end of the T PVC Connector.

Step 6: Add the 12in piece to the top of the + PVC connector (This will be the stand once it is complete)

(Look at the picture to better understand the direction of all the pieces)

[MAKE SURE TO GLUE ALL PIECES TOGETHER AND HAVE THEM TIGHT TOGETHER]

Step 6: Connecting the PartsTogether

Step 1: Face the two sides to where the T holes are lined up.

Step 2: Glue a 24in piece into each side.

Step 3: Connect the two 24in pieces with the straight PVC connector piece.

Step 7: Adding the Wheels

Step 1: Put the metal axis through the top of Part One

Step 2: Attach a wheel to each end

Step 3: Hammer a cap on each end of the axis to secure the wheels on it

Step 8: Painting the Kayak Cart (Optional)

Step 1: Apply the spray paint in even amounts among the entire cart.

Step 2: Allow at least 24 hours for the paint to dry.

(Paint can be any color of your choosing, we just happened to choose black)

Step 9: Final Look

This is what the final Project should look like when it is complete.
