PVC Light Stand

This is a light stand I made using PVC. I made it to provide light to my plants and I wanted something that could move around and be adjusted as needed. This is easy and cheap to make. After all, it's most PVC pipe!

Step 1: Gather the Materials

For this stand, I used 1/2" PVC pipe because I had some lying around from a previous project. As you can see, I have a few different lengths of pipe as well as two elbows, two T connectors and four caps. I also used two screwes that would fit in the screw holes on the light. I also used a pipe cutter I purchased from Lowe's to cut the pipe into right and equal lengths.

Step 2: Prepare the Pipe That Will Hold the Light.

For this step, what I did was lay the light next to the pipe I selected to hold it and marked the holes. I then drilled into the pipe with a bit that was a little smaller than the screw. I then inserted the screws and adjusted their height from the pipe to slide the light onto them.

Step 3: Assemble Stand.

Now that the pipe that will hold the light is ready, it's time to assemble the stand. This nice thing about this project, is you can make it any size. First, I removed the light from the pipe and attached the elbows. I then attached the legs with the T connectors and add the front and back feet with the caps.

Step 4: You're Done!!! Yeah!!!

Now, you can re-install the light back onto the pipe with the screws and plug it in. You're done! That wasn't too hard, huh? Or expensive! I am currently using this light with a full spectrum bulb for my plants. Since this stand is so light, I can move it anywere in my apartment and since I didn't glue the pipe together, I can be taken apart when needed to store, or I can add onto it to have more lights if I need to. I can even make it taller or smaller. Wider or narrower. Ah, the wonders of modular building. Anywho, enjoy your new, inexpensive light stand and I hope you enjoyed my first instructable.
