Introduction: Pallet Bench in 5 Steps

Hey, this is sorta my first Instructable and I want to share with you guys a Pallet Wood Bench I've made. You dont need to use only Pallet wood, you can also use 2x4s.

Supplies

2x4s (or pallet wood)

  • 8 48"
  • 2 24"
  • 2 20 1/2"
  • 2 40"
  • 6 25 1/2"
  • 2 18"

2 1/2" Weather wood screws

Clamps

Drill (of your choice)

Tape Measurer

Pocket Hole Jig

Step 1: Step 1: Getting Ready

Make sure to have your materials all ready! First thing is to make sure you have your 2x4s or Pallet wood (either can work, I used both). Once you do, begin to cut the wood into the dimensions needed (see Intro materials).

Step 2: Step 2: Start the Frame

Once you've cut out all the pieces of wood that you need, simply begin to start the frame of the bench. Take one of the 48" ones and lay it on its side. Taking the 6 25 1/2" wood pieces you have, use the Pocket Hole Jig to cut 2 holes into the top of those wood pieces. Then, simply drill the 25 1/2" wood pieces into the large 48" one.

Step 3: Step 3: Arm Frame

Now once you have the frame drilled and done for the main part of the bench, now its time for the arm frames. Taking your 2 20 1/2" wood pieces, you want to also take your 24" wood pieces as well. Standing the 24" pieces up straight, you want to drill the 20 1/2" piece onto the top of the 24" wood pieces as shown above in the picture. You want to do this so you have two arm frames. Then, cut out 2 pieces of 20" wood and drill it directly under the 20 1/2" pieces. This will help us drill the seat part in later.

Step 4: Setting the Last Pieces

By now, you should have two frames. The arm frame, and the actual back frame for the bench. All thats left is to scree the two together. As long as you make the screws even, it doesnt matter exactly how you screw it in. Personally, I found it easiest to set the arm frame on its front and then resting the back frame on the back of the arm frame so that I can make sure they both are aligned. I then screwed the two together and made a bench!
