Peaky Blinders presents the story of a gangster family located in Birmingham, England, in 1919, right after the First World War. The famous historic gang, Peaky Blinders, is in the center of the action, with a focus on their dangerous and ambitious boss, Tommy Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy). The Chief Inspector Chester Campbell (played by Sam Neil), working for the Royal Irish Constabulary, starts to investigate the gang, as he was sent from Belfast to clean up the streets.

Another classy British TV series, Peaky Blinders, is a mix of handsome and hollow. You will definitely appreciate the two main characters and the effort of the actors, who made marquee roles; even more, the show is worth to invest time to watch it, but you really have to like gangster movies, crimes, and action.

To help you get a better idea about it, just imagine a British version of the already famous Boardwalk Empire American TV show. We can easily compare it also with Gangs of New York, but it offers a better and more understandable perspective over those times. It means fans can really understand what happened after the First World War in an easy way, while spending some enjoyable time.

If we confused you, let’s take it simple: the entire action is set in 1919, in Birmingham, England. Tommy Shelby is a veteran of the World War I, terrified by vivid nightmares from the war. He tries to watch over his family, but he also gets involved in several illicit activities. His family is in charge with running the town, but Tommy wants to expand his family’s power. Everything starts when he gets a crate of guns.

Peaky Blinders presents a fight between rival gangs, the communism, contraband, money-laundering, robbery, and IRA, but also drama and adventure. The TV show present a tumultuous period in the British history, and for sure many fans will appreciate it. And if you add to all of these also a Romeo and Juliet story, between the youngest Shelby and a local Communist, you will understand why the TV showed has success.

The series is a high quality production, and many viewers will identify themselves with some of the characters. You should definitely watch Peaky Blinders: the whole cast is simply great, the first season was a critic success, the second season brings more action and adventure, and you will definitely enjoy it.

But this should be enough, because we don’t want to ruin the surprise. It is true Peaky Blinder is not perfect, but if you like gangster stories and tender experiences, go for it. And don’t expect a light TV show, but watch it with a quality whiskey next to you.
