Pedestrian Bridge Concept

Hello! My name is Evan Tzau (8th Grade) and this is my design I made for the Make it Bridge Competition. In the following instructable, I will go over my process of creating this pedestrian bridge in Salt Lake City.

Supplies

• TinkerCad Software
• No experience

Step 1: Location

The first step in the process was to find a location for the bridge that was both functional and meaningful. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah, which is split into two large communities: Mormons and non-Mormons. This led me to believe that Utah needs more connection between the two sides. So I chose to design a bridge that would fit between a small Mormon worshipping center, and East High School (Largely non-Mormon). This would act as another small stepping stone towards bridging the ever-shrinking gap between the two sides of Utah.

Step 2: Modeling/Design

The bridges design was created in TinkerCAD, which is the simplest way to create 3D models. I designed the bridge in a way that was focused more on symbolism and functionality than aesthetic. The bridge is colored in such a way that it pops out from the dull, gray surroundings which will draw more attention to the gap in our (local) society.
