Introduction: Penguin Plane

We are going to craft an easy to make plane that floats on the air, and has flippers like a penguin does! The guide uses color to show what each fold of the paper should end up covering.

Good luck!

Step 1: The Beginning

Lets start with a blank 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper. Lay it down flat, and lets get to folding.

Step 2: Lets Fold It in Half

We need to fold it in half. Vertically, hotdog style, whatever suits you.

Then unfold it so that the sheet is open and ready to go.

Step 3: Lets Fold That Upper Right Corner

Fold the upper right corner down until the upper right point hits the center line crease.

Step 4: Remember What We Did to the Right Corner?

Lets do it to the left now.

Fold the upper left corner down until the upper left point hits the center line crease.

Step 5: See That Perfectly Pointed Paper?

Turn it over! Turn it over now, quickly, no time to waste. But dont forget to keep that pointed top away from you, so you dont hurt yourself.

Step 6: So Now Comes the Hardest Part.

Fold the point at the right edge of the paper over so it hits the center line crease.

When folded correctly, the right diagonal edge of the paper should line up with the center line crease. Be sure to NOT fold the triangular flap underneath when making this fold.

Step 7: Remember That Hard Part? We Gotta Do It on the Other Side.

Fold the point at the left edge of the paper over so it hits the center line crease.

When folded correctly, the left diagonal edge of the paper should line up with the center line crease. Be sure to NOT fold the triangular flap underneath when making this fold.

Step 8: Almost There

Take that nice diamond and fold it in half, such that the you make a triangle.

Step 9: This Fold Is a Little Weird.

Fold the plane slightly in half.

Now with the plane in half, take one wing and fold is such that the wing in streight with the body, the wing should not extend past the body of the airplane.

Reapeat it for the other wing too.

Step 10: Youre Done!

Gently relase this plane and watch it glide.

Tips:

Tape the center fold together so it doesnt split open during flight.

You can also curve or flare the flaps to try different flight modes.
