Introduction: Perfect Paper Tray

This is the final activity I have my students do before really getting into metal projects. This is a great way to combine the skills learned while making the Perfect Paper Cube and the Perfect Paper Pyramid! If you can make either of those projects, this one will be a SNAP!

This is truly a very simple layout that uses the rules practiced in the Cube and Pyramid.

Supplies

Not much to this one:

Supplies:

8.5x11 sheet of paper

Glue

Pencil

Eraser

Ruler

Scissors

A desk or other hard work surface generally comes in pretty handy too...

Step 1: Calculating Workpiece Size

An explanation of how to calculate how much sheet will be needed to make a 3 dimensional shape. This requires a basic understanding of geometry and some simple math.

Step 2: Making the Tray

Using the calculations made in the last step, we cut our sheet to size and then lay out the hems, sides, and tabs. Once everything is laid out and double checked for accuracy, we can cut, fold, and glue!
