Introduction: Phone Controlled Christmas Tree Lights

About: Hi, I'm Tamas. I like to build all kinds of electronic gadgets, hope you'll like my ideas. I'm not so active on the site these days, so sorry for the late replies. (Oh, and sorry for my broken English in these…

I love Chrismas Day, I think it's one of the best days in the year. We always make a nice Christmas tree with my family, but this year I decided that I'll add some extra function to this tree. Then I made a smartphone controlled light system. The best part is that you don't need to take apart your original light! The circuit controls a servo motor that simply pushes the button on the Chritsmass tree light.

The code can be thanked for this instructable:

Step 1: Parts:

  • Mediatek LinkIt ONE Developer Board
  • Servo Motor
  • Battery
  • WiFi Antenna
  • Wires
  • Rubberband

Step 2: The Circuit

Connect the servo motor pins to the LinkIt: Orange to D9, Brown to GND and Red to 5v. The battery and the antenna can be connected easily to the board.

Step 3: Upload the Code!

Download and upload this .ino file. You have to install the Blynk and LinkIt ONE libraries. In the code modify the SSID, PASSWORD, and the Thoken then upload.

Step 4: The Servo As a Switch

Now use the rubberband and simply suit the servo motor on the Christmas tree light's power source.

Step 5: The App

Download the Blynk application from your AppStore or Play Store than add to your dashboard a button on virtual pin V3. If don't works, don't worry, add a slider on V3

Step 6: Testing

Plug in a wallplug your new phoe controlled light system and try it out. Mine worked well. :)

Step 7: Thanks for Watching!

I hope you liked this project and Merry Christmas for everyone!
