Introduction: Photogrammetry Pencil Sharpener

3D printed shell pencil sharpener.

Supplies

Small pencil sharpener, seashells, lamp, phone camera, foam board, wooden dowels, 3D printer.

Step 1: Find a Shell

Get a shell that has a decent amount of depth.

Step 2: Setup a Clean Area for Photos

Set up a plain background that is white, grey, or black. I had the most success with a white background. For optimal results, take pictures in 5-degree increments, if done correctly you should end up with approximately 70 pictures.

Step 3: Generate Mesh in Agisoft Metashape

Upload your images to Agisoft Metashape and generate your model.

Step 4: Edit the Mesh

Make a mesh that conforms to the pencil sharpener of your choice and combine it with your shell mesh in Meshmixer.

Step 5: 3D Print and Assemble

Print all of your parts and assemble them using any strong plastic adhesive. I used hot glue but Epoxy would be better.

Step 6: Sharpen a Pencil

Test out your new sharpener!
