Introduction: Photopea Tutorial
Welcome to my Photopea Tutorial! I will be editing a picture of my little sister in order to show how to use the available applications in the photo editing software! Above, you can see the before and after of this project!
Tools that will be used:
- Clone tool
- Blur
- Magic Wand
- Sharpen
- Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation
- Image > Adjustments > Black and White
- Lasso Selection
- Ellipses Selection
- Rectangle Selection
- Copy/Paste
- Heal Tool
Step 1: Skin Care!
Don't let bad skin hold you back from looking your best! Use the heal tool in the sidebar and click on spots you want to hide. Luckily, my model (my little sister) had very few spots I needed to take care of!
Step 2: Background!
The next thing to take care of is the background! Use the lasso tool to select everything you don't want to change the color of. In this case, I selected my entire little sister. After doing that, right-click and select inverse in order to select the background. It is easier to do it this way rather than selecting the entire background because it is a smaller area than the background.
After selecting the background, go to the image option in the top bar, click Adjustments, and then select black and white to achieve the results shown in the image.
Step 3: Teeth Now!
Her teeth needed some work, so that's what we are going to focus on next! Use the lasso tool to select the teeth, it usually helps to zoom in before trying. After getting your soon-to-be pearly whites selected, go to the image option at the top, click adjustments, then click hue saturation.
It is very important that you only make slight adjustments as the teeth color needs to look natural, so be especially careful you don't accidentally turn the teeth more yellow than they were before!
Step 4: Eyes!
My little sister has always wanted blue eyes, so I decided to use Photopea to help with that! Similarly to the last few steps, we are going to use the selection tool, but instead of the lasso version, it is easier to use the ellipses tool to allow for easier selection of circles and ovals. After selecting one eye, go to images then click on Adjustments, then Hue/Saturation, and select the color you want. Repeat with the second eye!
Step 5: The Hair and Eyebrows!
This is the fun part! Use the lasso selection tool to select the hair on your image, click Image up top, click Adjustments, then select Hue/ Saturation in order to change the hair color. Do the same steps for both eyebrows.
Step 6: Demon Horns Because She Annoyed Me!
My sister started blasting Billie Eilish while I was making this, so I decided to give her demon horns! I respect her music choices, but she really shouldn't force them on other people!
First, find some horns or another thing that you would like to add to the image then copy and paste it onto your Photopea project. Next, get rid of the background, the picture I chose had a solid background which allowed me to use the magic wand tool, but if you do not have a solid background, select the image with the lasso tool then click inverse and backspace to get rid of the background. After that, move and resize the horns or other images as needed in order to make it look as good as possible. This next step may not apply to the picture that you chose, but the horns looked a bit unnatural on my sister, so I used the clone tool to move skin around the horns, the blur tool to help the moved skin look less out of place, and the sharpen tool when I accidentally blur her hair.
You should be done after those final touches!
