Introduction: Pink Grapefruit Marmalade BBQ Ribs

About: Hello! My name is Jennifer and I love to cook. Baking, grilling, smoking, and frying interest me. Creating my own recipe is even better!
Yummy! Slow and low works for ribs! I’m from Texas and we LOVE barbecue. There’s just something magical that happens when you combine meat and barbecue sauce. Get out the grill because it’s officially summer when the sauce comes out.
This recipe is extra special because you can combine the ease of the slow cooker with a new sauce, Pink Grapefruit Marmalade BBQ Sauce. But, wait there’s more (in a commercial voice). We are going to finish these babies on the grill for that delicious smokey flavor and char that makes any meat taste divine.

Ingredients:
3 pounds pork ribs
2 tablespoons rub rub
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon liquid smoke
1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
1/3 cup pink grapefruit marmelade
1 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground mustard powder
1 teaspoon Kosher salt
3 dashes Tabasco sauce

Step 1: Preparing the Ribs

Remove ribs from the packaging and rinse with water. Pat dry with a paper towel.

Step 2: Preparing the Ribs

Cut the ribs into four sections. Add two tablespoons of your favorite dry rub. Rub both sides of the ribs. For this recipe, I used McCormick’s Smokehouse Maple rub. Sometimes, I make my own. I was looking for something that would go with my original recipe, Pink Grapefruit Marmalade BBQ sauce.

Step 3: Preparing the Ribs

Spray a large slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray and place ribs laying flat on the bottom.

Step 4: Preparing the Ribs

Add 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar to the slow cooker. Don’t pour it directly on the ribs. You don’t want to wash off that delicious rub.

Step 5: Preparing the Ribs

Add 1/2 cup of soy sauce.

Step 6: Preparing the Ribs

Add 1 tablespoon of liquid smoke. Cover the slow cooker with lid and heat on low for three hours. After three hours, use tongs to rearrange the ribs so that they all have come in contact with the cider mixture. Recover and heat for three more hours.

Step 7: Preparing the Sauce

Add 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar to a medium sized bowl.

Step 8: Preparing the Sauce

Add 1/3 cup pink grapefruit marmelade. I bought mine at Trader Joe’s.

Step 9: Preparing the Sauce

Add 1 cup of ketchup.

Step 10: Preparing the Sauce

Add 1 teaspoon of ground mustard powder.

Step 11: Preparing the Sauce

Add 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.

Step 12: Preparing the Sauce

Add 1 teaspoon Kosher salt.

Step 13: Preparing the Sauce

Add 3 dashes of Tabasco sauce.

Step 14: Preparing the Sauce

Whisk until all ingredients are incorporated.

Step 15: The Sauce Is Boss

During the last hour of slow cooking, add 1/2 cup of sauce to the ribs with a brush or spoon.

Step 16: It’s Time to Grill

Heat grill to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Place ribs on grill and brush with sauce. They are already completely cooked but you want to leave them on for about 2 minutes on each side brushing as you go.
Thanks to my husband for brushing while I took the picture.

Step 17: Dinner Time!

Using tongs, take your ribs off the grill and serve! They will be fall off the bone tender and very flavorful. I know that you will love them.
