Plastic Bottle Armor Chair

This is chair treatment inspired by layered metal armor only using plastic bottles!

Step 1: Introduction

In my design leadership prototyping class we explored different types of typical materials with the goal of creating a final life sized prototype. My exploration is plastic bottles.

Step 2: Prep Your Bottles

Purchase a case of approximately 24 water bottles, remove the paper label, drain, and cut into pieces as shown.

Step 3: Spray Paint

Coat your bottles in a thick layer of silver spray paint. You may need two coats.

Step 4: Add Your Chair Armor

Using standard clear tape, add the pieces to the chair one by one. Focus on the four corners first, then the horizontal slats.

Step 5: Layers

Continue to layer the pieces on top of one another creating an armor effect.

Step 6: Done!

Add as much or as little as you want, in the end you have a really cool piece!
