Introduction: D4E1 Plectrum Assistance
This is a project started by D4E1 (designforeveryone). http://designforeveryone.howest.be/
the product is made with feeling and is different for everyone. These instructions are a basis to realize the concept.
The reason for aluminium is because it is easily deformable.
Supplies
1.file
2.hammer
3.cutting machine or knife (for aluminium )
4.glue (best silicone) I use tec 7
5.step drill or a normal drill minimum 10
6.plectrum
7.point stroke
8.Sheet metal minimum 60x30 mm
9.tube (I use 12 mm diameter
10.screw machine
11.sandpaper
12.ruler
Step 1: Contour Drawing
you cut out the contours with the dimensions of the sketch.
Step 2: Dot Stroke
In the middle of the hole, you put a dotted stroke so you can drill easier later on.
Step 3: Drill the Hole
you drill a hole where you put a point stroke, my diameter of the hole is 13 mm
The function of the hole is to get the 'feeling' with the plectrum.
Step 4: Contour Cutout
You cut the sheet metal to the desired shape, the dimensions may vary to your liking. I did that with a cutting machine, but you can also do that with a knife or scissors.
Step 5: Deburring Edges
Deburr edges with your file and sandpaper
Step 6: Tube Clamping
You can do this operation in different ways, I did it with a vice.
You make sure the tube has an oval shape. The reason is that the index finger is also oval.
Step 7: Shape Up
With the help of a hammer you make the shape by tapping the sheet metal on the tube.
Here you can choose how you want to deform it.
Step 8: Gluing
You glue the pick on the sheet metal. Therefore you can choose what is the best glue for you.
As an option the sheet metal can also be colored.
