About: Soon to be preschool teacher

My name is Shailyn Becker, I am currently a 2nd year student at Lake Area Technical Institute. I am studying Early Childhood Education and today I am going to show you how to do an easy Turkey craft with younger kids!

Step 1: Colorful Turkey Craft

An easy craft for a simple and fantastic time with your
students is what every teacher wants when it comes time to doing a project to decorate the classroom up! The colorful turkey craft is not only an easy project, but the kids absolutely love being able to do it. The supplies needed are brown, orange, red, and yellow construction paper, scissors, glue, paper plates colorful tissue paper cut into squares, and googly eyes.

Your first step will begin with cutting the paper plate in half.

Your second step involves 9 dime sized drops of glue all over the plate and laying the tissue paper squares on top of the paper plate however you fancy

Next you will cut out the turkey’s body, which will be pre-traced on brown construction paper, you will then cut out the feet which will be pre-traced on orange construction paper, then you will cut out the out the waddle which will be pre-traced on red construction paper, then you will cut out the beak which will be pre-traced on yellow construction paper

Then you will attach the yellow colored beak onto the center of the turkey’s face, you will then attach the waddle on the side of the beak hanging down, on either side you would like

Then you will attach the google eyes above the nose touching each other

Finally, you will have a colorful turkey you can hang in your classroom, adding more color and getting ready for the festive holiday we celebrate known as Thanksgiving.

This activity is a fun and festive one! Meet all your requirements and want a slack day? This is the one! In six simple steps beginning with cutting a paper plate in half, using glue to glue down colorful tissue paper, along with cutting on the turkey's body, waddle, beak and feet and attaching them to the body of the turkey and finding some googly eyes to go along with it, you've got yourself an easy craft to do with the kids!

Step 2: The "Turkey Tail"

The beginning step entails cutting a paper plate in half to make it the "Turkey Tail"

This step should be done by the teacher as some paper plates are harder for the kids to be able to cut in half and we don't want any injuries!

Step 3: Colorful Turkey Tail

Step 2 begins with adding drops of glue, or using a glue stick, to glue down the pieces of tissue paper all over the tail of the turkey to make it look colorful

Step 4: The Turkey

Next you will cut out the turkey’s body, which will be
pre-traced on brown construction paper, you will then cut out the feet which will be pre-traced on orange construction paper, then you will cut out the out the waddle which will be pre-traced on red construction paper, then you will cut out the beak which will be pre-traced on yellow construction paper

Step 5: Piecing It Together

Then you will attach the yellow colored beak onto the center
of the turkey’s face, you will then attach the waddle on the side of the beak hanging down, on either side you would like

Step 6: The Final Touch

Your last step will entail gluing googly eyes onto the turkey's body and then you have your Colorful Turkey!

Step 7: Morning Class

The morning class was the most difficult, a few of them are first years so it was a process working on cutting and gluing. This was a great project for them because it helped us assess them for parent teach conferences.
