Introduction: Printing a GoPro Tripod Mount on a 3D Printer
I bought a GoPro camera for sports and different activates, I wanted to do a time lapse video of a sunset. The best view from my house was on the roof, there was no good place to mount the camera. The next day i was talking to my teacher and told him my situation. He said i could make a tripod mount using the 3D printer.
Step 1: The Design Stage
To make a tripod mount you first need to make a design of what you would like your finale product to be. You will have to make perfect measurements, being even .5 of a cm off can and will make the GoPro unable to fit. In picture 4, 5, and 6 you can see what tripod i used to make the designs for the mount.
Step 2: Designing on Rhino
One you have all your measurements , you can proceed to open your design software, (in this case I used rhino).
Step 3: Printing on a 3D Printer
Time sit back and relax while you print your 3D tripod mount. Time Lapse Video
Step 4: Removing the Supports
Once the printer is finished printing there will be support material you need to remove. You can use pliers or tweezers.
Step 5: The Test Fit
After the support material is removed, you are ready to test fit. When I test fit mine the corners were not at a 45 degree angle. I was able to just file down the edges, but I need to go back and change this in the original 3d model.
Step 6: The Final Product
This is what is looks like after the corners were filed down.
