Introduction: Protozoan

This creature is related to the Fuzzmeister, but slightly harder to sew.

Note: Throughout this Instructable, I may refer to 'the fuzzy side' of the fabric. This just means whichever side of the fabric you want to face outward when the project is done.

Step 1: Materials:

You will need:

Fabric of your choice

Peg-and-washer plastic eyes
or
buttons

Cotton Batting or stuffing

Needle and thread

Scissors

Sewing machine (optional)

They have everything at Ikea :) Too bad I don't live near one...

Step 2: Cut Out the Shapes

Cut out two identical protozoa shapes. Make your protozoa unique. Add more fins, less fins, antennae, you name it.

Below: The two shapes are cut out and pinned together for sewing. (with eyes attached)

Step 3: Attach the Eyes

Cut small slits wherever you'd like the eyes to be, then insert the pegs of the eyes into the slits. Make sure the actual eye pokes out on the fuzzy side, then snap the washer onto the peg. Push it as far as you can to make sure it's tight.

or

Sew the buttons onto the fuzzy side wherever you want the eyes to be.

Below: Close up of the peg-and-washer eyes

Step 4: Sew It Up

Make sure the fuzzy sides are laid down on top of and facing each other, then use a needle and thread or a sewing machine to sew all of the protozoa up except for a 3 or 4 inch opening to stuff it.

Below: Sewing up the edge.

Step 5: Stuff It

Take handfuls of the cotton batting or stuffing and stuff them through the hole you left unsewed until the protozoa looks full enough. Sew up the remaining opening, and you're done!

or

If you want your protozoa to have a different feel, or don't have stuffing, you can use fabric or felt scraps cut up into small pieces as you can see in the pictures. Use the fabric pieces in the same way you would use cotton batting or stuffing.

If anything is unclear or if you notice mistakes, please don't hesitate to comment.

Cool! Easy, and a must! Maybe fill it with beans/beads so that is kinda morphs to the surface you put it on :P

Whoops, shows you what I know about biology. Protozoan sounds like a species of alien to me...
