Introduction: Pulse Width Modulation(PWM)

PWM is device that control you motor speed especially for your brushless motor. Maybe you can use it to control when you are soldering or use it for regular fan in your room. This PWM can also be used for your robot project

Step 1:

Step 2: Things That We Need

We Need:

  • 4148 Diodes (2)

  • 2 pin SIL (2)

  • IC 555 (1)

  • Resistor 10K (1)

  • Resistor 1K (1)

  • 100n Capacitor (1)

  • 10n Capacitor (1)

  • BD139 (1)

  • VR 100K (1), find the '104' one

  • Copper Board

Note: For the capacitor value, you can read with this table above.

Step 3: Analyzing Circuit

The Real World Note:

  • There are 2 jumping wires, you should connect them!

Step 4: Make the PCB

Download the pattern in the fourth step!

We Need:

  • Copper Board fo PCB (1)
  • Ferric Chloride
  • Laserjet Pinter (1)
  • Photo Paper (1)
  • Cutter (1)
  • Ironing (1)
  • Water
  • Useless plastic box (1)
  • Sandpaper (1)
  • Mini Drill


  • Looking for artwork that fit with real world
  • Print the artwork on photo paper with laserjet printer
  • Cut and start to iron the printed pattern on the copper board(for PCB) note: sand your copper board before you do this!
  • Iron approximately 12 minutes in high temperature
  • After that, wait until cold and dip in water approximately 5 minutes
  • Remove all of the the paper, make sure nothing is left behind(the paper, not the pattern one)
  • Now, you can see the pattern sticks on the board
  • Cut your board until it fit with your pattern
  • Prepare the plastic box and fill it with a little water in it
  • combine it with a little ferric chloride and wait until they react each other
  • Put your PCB board and shake it slowly
  • The ferri chlorde should eat the copper and left your pattern!
  • Viola!, now you can see the copper shaping like your pattern
  • Drill your PCB, and finish!

Step 6: Troubleshooting

The mistake usually i do when i'm doing this:

  • The component isn't match with the circuit board
  • I 'always' forget adding the jumper wires
  • The voltage input too high/ too low, the high voltage will make your circuit broke
  • Didn't check the + and -
  • The motor voltage isn't match with the input
  • This isn't compatible for led or similar
