Pupitre Para El Baul - Desk to the Trunk

Esta es la segunda parte del instructable que subi el otro dia. Lamentablemente no tengo nada mas que una foto del proceso de fabricacion, asi que me tendre que esforzar para explicar como lo he hecho.

La madera utilizada es en su mayoria de palet, y la superficie del pupitre, es una puerta de un armario de sala. Tambien hay un trozo de palo de escoba y un eje metalico, recuperado de una impresora.

This is the second part of the instructable that went up the other day. Unfortunately I have nothing but a photo of the manufacturing process, so I'll have to make an effort to explain how I did it.

The wood used is mostly pallet, and the surface of the desk is a door of a closet . There is also a piece of broomstick and a metallic shaft, recovered from a printer.

Step 1: La Unica Foto Del Como Se Hizo - the Only Photo of "how They Do It"

Por desgracia he perdido las fotos del proceso de fabricacion, solo me queda esta.

La idea era crear una estructura fuerte, pero que no pareciera pesada. Por eso he usado las tablas de la madera de pallet, pero uniendo dos, de forma que aumente la resistencia. Estas tablas estan encoladas y atornilladas.

Otra caractristica de este pupitre es que la mesa se puede inclinar, pivotando sobre un eje, que esta en la parte superior de las patas.

Las tablas se van montando imitando una union a media madera, como se puede ver en la foto. Ha resultado un pupitre muy resistente, porque todabia esta "vivo" y en funcionamiento.

Unfortunately I lost the pictures of the manufacturing process, I just have this.
The idea was to create a strong structure, but that does not seem heavy. So I used tables of wood pallet, but joining two, so as to increase the resistance. These tables are glued and screwed.

Another caractristica of this desk is that the table can be tilted, pivoting on an axis, which is at the top of the legs.

The boards are mounted imitating a junction, half wood, as seen in the photo. It has been a very strong desk, because is still "live" and running.

Step 2: Como Lo He Hecho - How I Did It

Las patas son dobles, el tablilla interior soporta la mesa y llega hasta el suelo. La parte exterior es la que tiene el eje de giro, y llega hasta la madera de la base. Estas maderas de la base estan unidas por otra, que esta atornillada a las patas y las bases. Por delante hay otra, que esta pintada con la fecha de fabricacion, que tambien une todas las maderas.

La madera exterior de las patas, tambien tiene los topes donde se sujetan los tirantes que marcan la inclinacion de la mesa. Estos tirantes estan unidos con los ejes metalicos (de aluminio hueco) que estan embutidos en una barra redonda de madera ( del palo de escoba) y que sirve para manejar la inclinacion de la mesa.

The legs are double, the inner board supports the table and reaches the ground. The outside is the one with the axis of rotation, and reaches the wood base. These woods are joined to the base, by another board, which is bolted to the legs and bases. Ahead there is another board, which is painted with the date of manufacture, which also unites all woods.
Exterior wood legs, also has stops where the straps that mark the inclination of the table are held. These straps are attached with metal shafts (hollow aluminum) that are embedded in a round wooden bar (broomstick) and serves to handle the inclination of the table.

Step 3: Vista Frontal - Front View

A media altura hay otra tabla, con el nombre de mi sobrina, tallado en la madera. El proceso de pintura del tallado fue un poco complicado, porque no tenia claro que hacer, asi que fui haciendo pruebas (y muchos errores) y siguiendo las instrucciones que me "daba" la madera, acabo siendo un cielo estrellado. En la tabla inferior pinte el año de fabricacion ( el texto esta en euskera y dice Año 2012). Todos los "adornos" de la madera, estan hechos con limas.

Halfway up there is another table with the name of my niece, carved in wood. The carved painting process was a little confusing, because I was not sure what to do, so I made tests (and many errors) and following the instructions that I "gave" the wood, ended up being a starry sky. In the table below, I painted the year of manufacture (the text is in Basque and says Year 2012). All "ornaments" of wood, are made with limes.

Step 4: La Mesa - the Table

La mesa esta hecha con una puerta de armario. Lo primero que hay que hacer es tapar los agujeros de las bisagras, con masilla de madera. Despues lijar bien toda la superficie, donde pegaremos una lamina de vinilo. Para esconder las uniones de los vinilos de ambas caras, pongo todo alrededor unas tiras de madera, pero la de la parte del usuario, la dejo un poco elevada, para sujetar los lapiceros y pintura, y que no caigan al suelo cuando esta la mesa inclinada. Tambien pongo un tapon de un bote de plastico, a modo de tintero, para que la niña pueda dejar alguna pintura dentro.

Para fijar la mesa al pupitre, hay un marco de madera en la cara inferior de la mesa, que esta atornillada a la mesa, y es la que hace el giro sobre las patas. Para hacernos una idea de las dimensiones, he puesto unas hojas de papel tamaño DIN A4, y una caja de CD.

The table is made with a closet door. The first thing to do is to plug the holes in the hinges, with wood putty. After, sanding the entire surface where a I will glue sheet vinyl . To hide joints vinyl, in the union of both sides, I put around the perimeter, strips of wood, but the part of the user, I leave a little high, to hold the pens and paint, and they do not fall to the ground when it tilted table. I also put in a plug of a plastic container, as an inkwell, so the girl could leave one painting inside.
To set the table to the desk, there is a wooden frame on the underside of the table, which is bolted to the table, and is doing spinning on the legs. To get an idea of the dimensions, I put some paper size A4, and a CD case.

Step 5: Conjunto De Baul Y Pupitre - Chest and Desk Set

Aqui tenemos el conjunto final, preparado para su uso. Se puede colocar el baul debajo del pupitre, ocupando poco espacio, y separarlo para trabajar en el pupitre. Las dimensiones se aprecian comparando el tamaño de la caja de CD. Se puede ver en la foto nº 5, un boligrafo en el soporte que e comentado antes.

En mi blog, puede que encontreis algun detalle que aqui se ma haya pasado por alto.

Here we have the final set, ready for use. The chest can be placed under the desk, taking up little space, and separate to work at the desk. The dimensions are shown by comparing the size of the CD case. You can see in the photo No. 5, a pen on the support that I mentioned earlier.
In my blog, maybe some detail may find I here have overlooked.
