Introduction: Put Videos Onto Your Cell Phone

Most phones now are capable of taking and playing back videos. In this instructable, I will show you how to put your own videos onto your phone.

Step 1: Your Phone

First of all, make sure your phone does take and playback video. Also, this will require you to some how interface with the phone's memory from your computer via either a cable to the phone or through its microSD card directly. Most phones won't let you hook up as a storage device unless there is a memory card and make sure it is set to mass storage.

Then, what type of phone is it? Is it CDMA or GSM? To make it simpler, T-Mobile or AT&T phones use GSM technology (with a SIM card). Verizon and Sprint use CDMA (without a SIM card). Other regional carriers vary and you will have to check. This will impact what type of file you have to save your video as.

Note: This instructable is for non-smartphones. Smartphones often are capable of using better formats than what I am about to show you: like MP4 video. For those, I recomend Handbrake.

Step 2: Get the Software

Go to http://www.pazera-software.com/ . On the left side it will list a bunch of its converters. Find one that says AVI-to-3GP. Download it to wherever on your computer. Uncompress the folder afterwards. This program requires no installation! 

Step 3: Use Pazera

You should find the program in the folder. Run it and it will open. Add the file you want to convert. It can convert from AVI, DivX, XviD, MPEG, MPG, WMV, ASF, MOV, QT, FLV, SWF, MP4, M4V, 3GP, 3G2, MKV, VOB, VCD DAT. Select the resolution for your phone from the list. However, 320x240 is not on there so some codecs support it, others don't; it has to be put into the custom category. It is a very common resolution. The max resolution supported is often the max resolution it is capable of recording, but not always. I recomend the XviD 1.2.1 for it. There is no need to go to the smallest resolution because these files are so small anyways, it won't make much of a difference. Once you start the encoding process,  a new little window comes up showing the progress and speed. You can close it when it is done. Put the new file onto your phone and try it out.
