This is a traditional and ethnic jhumka most commonly worn by Indian women. This has been a trend lately in metal and I have tried to incorporate that effect in a quilled jhumka by using loreals.

Step 1: Things Needed

~ Jhumkas

~ Pollen Wires

~ Loreals/ghungroos of your color choice

~ Punch (I use this punch for exclusively for this kinda jhumka. Will explain why later)

~ Nose pliers

~ Wire cutter/Scissors as you wish

~ Artery forceps - not mandatory

Step 2: Making Holes Using a Punch

Make holes with the punch say approximately 11-12 holes for a jhumka of approximately 2.5 cm diameter but can vary for different sized jhumkas. Not too far or not to close. If it's too close too much work to string the loreals and if it's too far chances are there for the string to be loose once finished. I prefer to use this punch as the holes I get are small and the small elevation I get at the backside helps me to hold the pollen firmly in place.

Step 3: Cutting the Pollen Wires

Take the pollen and cut it into two with a cutter or scissors.

Step 4: Inserting the Pollen Wire Inside the Punched Hole

Let's start. Insert the pollen wire through the back side of the punched holes so that the ball end attaches to the elevation of the jhumka hole.

Step 5: Attaching Ghungroos/loreals

Step 5:

Start inserting the ghungroos/loreals through the wire. Once you are satisfied with your ghungroos take the other end and push it through the next adjacent hole and pull it on the other side and firmly secured it. Make sure the ball end is still attached to the paper and not left loose otherwise after tightening the wire might sag because you forgot to secure the ball portion.

Now use your plier and bend the pollen wire forming a loop.

Step 7: Tightening the Wire

I use the artery forceps to hold the loop and twisted it 3-4 times. You can do the same with nose pliers slowly also but know the breaking point of the wire. Be careful not to break the wire. After it's tightened cut the excess and tuck the wire bits that's peeking out.
