Introduction: Raindrop Earrings
These wire Raindrop Earring are unique, customizable and easy to make.
Supplies
You will need:
∙ Craft wire - I used 18 gauge - anything over this will we too big for ear-piercings.
∙ Pliers - Flat nose, round nose and cutting pliers
∙ Nail varnish or Acrylic paint
Step 1: Measuring Your Wire
Cut around 5.5 cm of wire don't worry if you have too much you can always make adjustments
Step 2: Making Your Raindrop Shape
Use the round nose pliers to bend the end of your wire into a raindrop shape. You can make whatever size you want according to your preference as long you have at least 1cm of wire left over.
Step 3: Flattening
To make your shape nice and secure use the flat nose pliers to press the end of the wire to the end of the raindrop.
Step 4: Cutting the Ends
The end of the earring must be a certain length. Short enough so it doesn't poke your head and long enough so you can put the earring in without it falling out.
Step 5: Adding the Color
Now that the base is finished you can start to add the color. You can add whatever color you wish but I have decided to go with the original blue. Use some nail polish around the rim then inside to create a "bubble". Let the nail polish dry so the "bubble" doesn't pop.
Step 6: Paint
If you don't want to use nail polish, you can use paint. I used acrylic paint. Add some paint to a bowl and only a little bit of water so it remains thick. Dip the base into the mixture to create a "bubble". As with the nail polish, Let it dry so the "bubble" doesn't pop.
Step 7: Finishing
Done! After they have dried they are ready to use. Remember to clean the ends with rubbing alcohol so your ears stay safe.
Hope this helps,
Jasmin
