Introduction: Recoil Reducer

About: I am an Industrial Engineer who loves designing and prototyping.
My 11 year old son is on the local clay busters team and is missing a lot because of the recoil.

Step 1: Small Air Cylinder

I found this old cylinder in a junk pile and decided to use it for my recoil reducer

Step 2: Machining

I machined both sides to allow it to fit inside of the stock. I added 2 light springs behind the guide rods and 1 heavy spring between the fixed and moving part of the cylinder.

Step 3: Butt Plates

I had to have something to attach the cylinder to, so I made 2 plates that fit. I mounted 1 plate to the fixed side of the cylinder and the other plate to the moving side of the cylinder.

Step 4: Shoulder Pad

I put a slip on limb saver over the aluminum plates to make it more comfortable.
