Recycled Tile Ring

This is a great way to upcycle small, used tiles.  In my area, there is a resale shop with a ton of household and home repair materials.  I found these tiles and thought that they were the perfect size for a statement ring.  

Things I needed:
Recycled tile small enough to wear on a finger
Soap and water to wash the tile
Mod Podge
Scrapbook paper
Small Paint brush or foam brush
Krylon Clear Finish spray
1 Ring base (with a flat top, found at most craft stores)

First, I cleaned the tile by soaking it overnight in a soapy water solution.  The next day, I scrapped off all of the excess adhesive and then allowed the tiles to dry.

 I had some cute scrapbooking paper that I cut to the size of the tile.  I used Mod Podge to adhere the scrapbooking paper to the top of the tile.  Then I brushed more Mod Podge on top of the paper, leaving 10 minutes in between each coat.  After the last coat, I allowed it to dry for an hour and then used Krylon Clear Finish to protect the surface. 

Now, to make a ring!  Since the tile I used is a ceramic tile, I used Gorilla Super Glue, which works on ceramic, to bond the finished tile to the ring base.  Hold the tile to the base for 30-40 seconds until it bonds and allow it to dry. 

I have since made a few of these rings and given them away.  Sorry the pictures aren't the clearest-my camera is in need of repair!
I love that I spent less than a dollar to make this ring and it makes a great statement piece!
