Remove Writing From Video Game Cartridges
Intro: Remove Writing From Video Game Cartridges
As a kid, did you write your name on all of your video game cartridges with permanent marker? This tutorial will show you how to get the writing out!
I had gotten a bunch of Nintendo 64 games from a friend, but they had his name written all over the plastic casing. I decided to make it even worse by scribbling over the old writing. But with this method, I was able to get both sets of sharpie out! This works with both black and silver sharpie.
STEP 1: Buy Supplies
STEP 2: Color the Writing
With the blender marker, color over the writing. The pen will become discolored, and the black marker ink will become purple. After 10 passes, wipe the cartridge with a paper towel.
STEP 3: Apply Goo Gone
The writing should look better, but the area will be a bit discolored now. Put a dab of Goo Gone on a paper towel, and rub the cartridge until the writing disappears! You may still be able to see some small smudges depending on how bad the original writing was, but most of it should be gone. Repeating the marker and Goo Gone steps can help if you aren't satisfied. This method doesn't work well if the writing is on a sticker, only if it is on the cartridge itself.

Or, you could just grab a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser or other generic brand of it. Just got a bunch of really old sharpie writing off of my N64 controllers, cartridges, and GameBoy cartridges. Also took off scuffed paint from when I would slam my controller into the wall in anger. XD

What is the cover photo? I'm so confused. I thought you carved the writing off. Is it silver sharpie?
