Repair Fabric Ottoman

We bought an ottoman for the base of our bed years ago so our little dog could get on our bed without help. As the years went on, our ottoman started showing some wear and tear. I decided to repair the ottoman instead of replacing it. I went to our local reuse market and found some scrap fabrics that coordinated with our ottoman fabric. 

Supplies

Coordinating/matching fabric

Iron & Iron-on adhesive

Scissors

Needle & Thread 

Step 1: Cut Damaged Material

Cut out scratched up material on ottoman. 

Then cut lines in corners to fold fabric under.

Step 2: Finish Edges

Measure out iron-on adhesive, stick to back side of ottoman fabric, fold under then iron. 

Do this to all 4 sides.

Step 3: Secure Fabric

Measure out fabric to insert under ottoman fabric. Make sure it’s larger than ottoman’s hole. Add iron-on adhesive to edge, tuck under ottoman fabric and iron in place.

Step 4: Finish Coordinating Fabric

Measure out another piece of fabric to add to both sides of new covered hole.

Finish the edges of new material by adding iron-on adhesive to folded edge, repeat on all sides. 

Step 5: Iron in Place

Then add iron-on adhesive to back side of fabric to iron in place.

Step 6: Sew to Secure

Get sewing materials out. Thread needle with coordinating color thread. I used orange with orange fabric and pink with pink fabric. You could switch them around and be as creative as you want. I sewed the material to ottoman to be extra secure.
