Introduction: Replacement Toothpick for a Swiss Army Knife

About: Hi. My name is Caleb. I am a guy who likes to make things. My all time favorite thing to do is blacksmithing, and knife making. I also enjoy wood working, beekeeping. I like making things the old fashion way. …

Every one knows of the classic Swiss army knife and almost everyone has owned one at one point in there life. I picked this small victorinox up at a thrift store for 25 cents, sadly the tooth pick was gone, and so I made up my mind to make a new one! And so here is how I did it ,ll hand tools and its fairly simple. Hope you like it!

Step 1: Tool and Materials.

Your going to need a knife you could use the Swiss army knife easily. But I love my little single bevel neck knife, its great for small jobs and every day carry. If any one wants a knife like this I make them and your more then welcome to buy one from me! the one I used in this post is for sale.

For the tooth pick I used a small chunk of white oak. You could use Hickory or Osage. just be sure to use a hard wood.

Step 2: Split That Wood!

Now take you knife and split off a good sized sliver of the wood. To do this go with the grain of the wood and push down with your blade. you should end up with a wood chip basically.

Step 3: Fitting the Tooth Pick

Start trimming down your wood chip in till you end up with a small rectangle. Its all pretty self explainable just be sure to keep fitting it in the knife so you get the size right.

Step 4: Finishing

Just be sure that it fits in flush with everything so it looks like its meant to be there. you don't want a big square sticking out of the knife! And you have your self a brand new tooth pick for your swiss army knife! really simple I have not seen any one post anything on it before so I thought I would. I would love to hear what you think!
