Round Stool

Introduction: Round Stool

First woodworking project: a small round stool made in my grandfathers workshop.

Step 1: Buying Wood

Went to the local DYI store to buy some wood. They didn't have a lot of options so I had to go with this Brasilian pine. At this point I was hoping that it would splinter too much when turning the legs.

Step 2: Glueing the Boards

Using all the glue clamps I could find to ensure the boards would hold together.

Step 3: Sawing the Top Surface and Legs

Used a jigsaw to get the initial round shape of the top surface.

Step 4: Turning the Legs and Rounding of the Top Surface

Step 5: Drilling Holes and Shaping the Legs

Drilled the holes at an angle of about 6 to 7 degrees to spread out the legs. To do this I sawed a 2 by 4 at the right angle and placed it on top of the surface to guide the drill.

Step 6: Shaping the Legs to Fit the Holes

Step 7: Glueing the Legs Into Place and Applying Varnish

This is your first woodworking project ever? It looks like it turned out very nicely!

Hopefully you caught the bug and will continue making stuff with wood; it's a great hobby! :)
