Rubber Band Boat

Introduction: Rubber Band Boat

The fossil fuels are running out of power. What could be nicer than creating a vehicle that needs no energy but works on stored muscle strength! In this instructable we make a 3d printed boat, that works on muscle strength.

This is my first 3d model and instructable. Tests and comments are welcome!

Step 1: Materials

What you need for this boat:

  • The printed boat
  • The printed propeller
  • A rubber band

The files are stored in the .stl file.

Step 2: The Assembley

Mount the propeller in the rubber bad, you can use the recesses on the prop. Put the prop with the rubber band in the middle of the boat and pull the ends through the holes. The ends of the rubber band can be mounted on the cylinders on the top.

Step 3: Enjoy!

Wind the rubber band with the propeller. Put it in a bathtub or in another water. And see your boat move without any fossil fuel!

Organize games with your friends and find the best amount of winding's for your boat.

I made a few boats out of wood just like this when I was a kid! So much fun. Nice to see a printable version of the same basic design. Thanks!
