Introduction: Rustic X Console
Build this one of a kind quick, and easy Rustic X Console
Materials List:
2 - 2x4s @ 8ft
2 - 1x12s @ 6ft
8 - 2x2s @ 8ft
1 - 2x6 @ 10ft
1 - 2x6 @ 8ft
2 1/2" Pocket Hole Screws
2 1/2" Wood Screws
Wood Glue
Step 1: Step 1 : Assemble Shelves
Assemble top and bottom shelves by attaching 2x2s to 1x12 with wood glue and 2" brad nails.
Be sure to measure your 2x2s against the 1x12 before making your cuts. attach the smaller 2x2 sides first.
Step 2: Step 2: Attach Legs
Attach 2x4 legs to the assembled shelves using 2 1/2" wood screws.
You can space your shelves however you like but for general build I usually have 14" between shelves
Lay 2x4s on the ground and stand shelves upright to attach shelf to the legs. Screw underneath shelf. Flip shelf and attach the other two leg.s
Step 3: Step 3 : Attach Top Braces
Attach 2x2s to the top of the console with a Kreg Jig a 1 1/2" setting using 2 1/2" pocket hole screws
Step 4: Step 4: Assemble Top
Assemble top by attaching 2x6s with a Kreg Jig on a 1 1/2" setting using 2 1/2" pocket hole screws. Attach to console with 2" wood screws underneath 2x2 top braces.
Step 5: Step 5: Add X Braces
Add X braces to sides of the console using wood glue and 2" brad nails. Cut Xs at about 36 degrees.
Be sure to measure before you cut the X angle. Put the 2x2 up against the console, mark a line from the back and cut your angle from that line.
