Introduction: STLCC T-Shirt

I decided to make a STLCC T-shirt, I chose this because when looking on their website I didn’t find very many options— so I made one.

Supplies

T-shirt

Heat press

Graphic printer

vinyl paper

Scissors/exacto knife

Cling transfer paper


Step 1: Create Your Design

First choose your design or create one on Adobe Fresco here is mine.

Step 2: Upload

When you have created your design save it to your camera roll or upload to computer. Go to Adobe Illustrator, click new project and then upload. Choose your design you uploaded and do the following bellow to make cut line.

Step 3: Adobe Illustrator Panel Opening

  1. Go to window - layers
  2. Go to window- pathfinder
  3. Go to window- swatch libraries - other libraries and load Roland Versaworks swatch libraries


Step 4: Duplicate Layer

Duplicate the layer

  1. in the layer panel you created hold and drag the layer until you see the plus in the bottom right to duplicate it.


Step 5: Lock Original Layer

Lock the original layer

  1. click the lock icon next to the original layer to locker it
  2. click eyeball icon to next to the original layer to hide it



Step 6: Image Trace

  1. select the and go to image trace dropdown in the control panel.
  2. choose Silhouettes



Step 7: Expand Image

expand the image

  1. click expand in the control panel to convert the traced image to vector paths


Step 8: Pathfinder Operations

  1. with traced image selected, go to the pathfinder panel
  2. click merge then unite


Step 9: Offset Path

  1. Go to object- path-offset path
  2. check preview and adjust the offset as needed ( 0 is recommended )

Step 10: Inner Image

  1. Select the inner image and press Ctrl+x to cut it

Step 11: Apply Cut Contour Swatch

  1. open the Roland Versaworks swatch panel. (Attached above)
  2. Click the magenta box (CutContour swatch)

Step 12: Adjust Fill and Stroke

  1. go to the top corner of the screen
  2. click the first infill box ad select none for color
  3. click the second (out fill) box and select magenta

Uncheck the lock and toggle the visibility (eyeball icon) of the original layer if needed

Step 13: Save As PDF

  1. go to file- save as
  2. choose PDF format and save your file


Step 14: Print!

  1. To print the vinyl drag and drop into open que A,B,C etc.
  2. Double click to open settings

layout- check scale/ size of design, enter the # of copies

Quality- check media type, color management properties or preset true run color

Cut controls put the check mark in the box for cut image boundary

close and print!!


Step 15: Transfer to T-shirt

Once your design is printed get the sticky cling paper and transfer the design to it (make sure to cut out everything), smooth out any air bubbles.

make sure your heat press is set to 300 degrees, don’t burn your self

lay down your shirt and center how you would like , apply the design with the transfer cling paper hold and lock heat press for 15 seconds lift and remove film.

Step 16: All Done!!

Your shirt is done! Congrats!!
