Step 1: How It Was Built
First get Popsicle sticks and build a square base out of Popsicle sticks. Hot glue works great but wood glue probably work just as well. MAKE SURE THAT ONE SIDE IS RELATIVELY FLAT FOR MOUNTING.
Next you want to get the motor and attach it under the base and add wheels to its output shaft. If you find your wheels struggle to move, gearboxes will must be incorporated.
Next you want to Build all the circuits, arrange the wires as shown in the pictures. Your motor wires should connect to either side of the motor shield and the power supply should hook up to the front of it. The rest of the wires from the motor shield will run to the arduino.
Once that is done you want to attach hot glue the components on from the circuits and the battery as shown in the picture. Your motor shield, arduino, and power supple should be firmly attached to the base. Make sure that your wires are firmly in place too.
Now it is time to upload the code into the arduino. You can use the code provided or try and make one yourself! The code comes with its own explanation with comments.
Finally you want to test out the car with the joystick. Moving the joystick up and down should move the robot forward and backwards while moving from left to right should turn the robot.
Once it is complete and working you can add the paper cover and add a tail. This is for aesthetic reasons as well as protection for the arduino and components from damage from both the environments and a playful cat.
