Introduction: Science Fair

Hi welcome to our intractable page!

Step 1: Step 1: Investigation

in the first step "investigation" we stated the:

purpose of our experiment: (We chose this topic because we want to know and understand the effect of the brightness on the growth of the plants, we found it interesting because we wanted to tryout different kinds of brightness. Everyone agrees on the topic.)

-testable question: what is the affect of sunlight o the growth of the plant?

-hypothesis: (if plants are put in different light sources then they will have different growing processes because light is a huge part of a plants life cycle without it the plant will die and plants need light from the sun to grow and do photosynthesis)

Step 2: Step 2: Planning and Preparation

in this step me and my group prepared ahead for our experiment. we had already picked a topic, we just needed to break the procedure down, so we talked about the variables and changes we noticed while we were doing the experiment. basically listing down our information.

-variables:
independent: the amount of light given to the plant. dependent: height of the plant. controlled: type of plant / water / temperature.

-materials: seeds / water / soil / sunlight / shadow / ruler / phone / cup.

-procedure:

1- each girl will get a seed

2- each girl will plant her seed in soil in a cup

3- each girl will put the plant in different type on lighting

4- take care of the plant by giving it water

5- measure the height and take pictures.

-graph:

Step 3: Step 3: Action

in this step we did a power point gathering all the data the tables the graphs variables and hypothesis our results and conclusion basically a summary of our experiment.

results: After getting our materials and taking care of our plants for four days these were the results: Almas plant ended up being 5.9cm (her plant grew under the sunlight), on the other hand Fatima’s plant ended up being 5.5cm tall (her plant was growing indoors under house lighting) lastly Marias plant didn’t even grow because it didn’t have any sort of light source. The results were pretty predictable due to our prier knowledge about this topic.

data analysis: In this paragraph I will be analyzing our data. So, for the plant with sunlight it started growing rapidly from the first day (2cm) while the plant with shadow was tailing right behind (1.5cm). what we noticed is the difference between the two plants was 5cm.

Step 4: Step 4: Reflection

social skills: We needed a lot of social skills to be able to communicate with each other perfectly because sometimes it is kind of hard to communicate with your teammates it we found it pretty easy to communicate with each other flawlessly.

Research skills: we researched about if different type light sources can affect how a plant can grow and we found out that it does not affect the plant because in the first experiment which was in the shade it grew almost as much as the second experiment which was under the sun.

communication skills: We used communication skills when we communicated together to get our work done faster and easier, we exchanged each other’s points of views and made sure everyone agreed.

application: this research is important because we need to know if plants can grow properly in both the shade and under the sun, plants are very important to humans because they absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen which we need to breath

its better to grow plants under sunlight rather than growing it under the shade because sunlight has more benefits for the plant and it makes the plant grow healthier and taller.

i learned that growing your plant under the sun or the shade doesn’t really affect the plants but sunlight is like food for the plant so it makes it grow faster but either way the will grow the same way.
