Introduction: Sea Shell Candle DIY From Recycled Material
This is a very easy DIY that I made for very cheap! In total, this project cost me less than 3 dollars and I have a lot of material left over. I love the aesthetic of this candle and it would make a good gift as well!

Supplies
- Sea Shells
- Metallic Paint
- Paint Brush
- Tea Candles (mine were thrifted)
- Bowl (for melting wax)
- Bowl (for warm water)
- Wick Trimmer (or anything that will cut a wick) (I used a wire cutter)
Step 1: Painting Gold Edges
Use the metallic paint to paint the edge of the sea shell. If you wanted, you could also paint the whole inside for a cool effect after the wax melts.
Step 2: Melting Wax
To get wax for this candle, I used thrifted tealight candles, but they are very inexpensive if you buy them new. Break each candle apart and collect the wax chunks in a bowl. Make sure to save the wicks since they will be the wicks we use later on.
Melt the wax in the microwave in 1 minute intervals. I stirred mine in between each minute. To take it out, use a potholder or something to protect yourself from getting burnt. BE CAREFUL WHEN TAKING IT OUT SINCE IT IS VERY VERY HOT!!
Step 3: Making the Candle
Place the wicks in the shell and carefully pour the wax in. Remember to be very careful!
Step 4: Finishing
Let the wax completely cool and trim the wicks if necessary. I didn't have a wick trimmer, so I used one of my wire cutters to trim it instead.
